Research Interests

Jeff Larson's research interests include social movements, organizations, culture, social network analysis, and institutional change. His dissertation analyzes how decisions by social movement organizations about issues, tactics, and targets are conditioned by the behaviors of other movement organizations and by those with whom they interact. Other ongoing work includes an ecological analysis of organizational levels of collective action across the U.S. (with Sarah Soule), and (with fellow graduate students) an experimental study of gender and status effects on voice.
