About Amelia Blume
Amelia is a Ph.D. Candidate in the School of Sociology. Broadly, her research interests include health, emotions, organizations, gender, culture, and qualitative methodology. Her dissertation examines gendered emotional mechanisms used in pharmaceutical advertising campaigns.
Amelia received her M.A. in Sociology from the University of Memphis (2014) and B.A. in Sociology from the University of Montana (2010). Her masters thesis drew from ethnographic data and examined gendered role performances and impression and emotion management.
Amelia has also been involved in projects rooted in the sociology of knowledge. Currently, she works as a research assistant on an NSF funded project focused on innovations in social science learning, student engagement, and career readiness. Previously she collaborated on a project using structural equation modeling to elucidate the gender gap in patenting.
