Jina Lee

About Jina Lee

Jina Lee is a second-year doctoral student in Sociology. She earned her M.A. in Sociology and B.A. in Sociology and Political Science at Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea.

Her research interests broadly lie in the areas of gender, organization, culture, and social psychology, with a special focus on studying how cultural beliefs and stereotypes shape women's career choices and reproduce gender gaps in labor markets. She is also interested in organizational identity and status effects literature to study how audience evaluate performance of organizations or individuals.

In her M.A. thesis, she investigated whether and how women writers and their artworks are devalued in the canonization process of Korean literature. Her other projects include a survey experiment to examine gender bias in U.S. hiring, automated text analysis of news articles reporting sexual harrasments in Korea, and examining effects of intergenerational care supports on married women's employment in Korea and Taiwan.
