Join us for the first talk in our Spring Colloquium Series! Dr. Piper Sledge from the University of Arizona will present:
Sociology for Science: Integrating Land and People in the Practices of Science
Recent years have witnessed varied interest in applied sociology. While often these practical applications focus on the ways sociologists can contribute to policy or other forms of community planning, the current state of scientific facilities and projects presents an opportunity for sociologists to contribute to the practice of science. This talk will focus on how social theory can work with physical science to craft new ways of practicing science and designing facilities through the example of Cosmic Explorer (CE), a next generation gravitational wave observatory.
