Zhuofan Li

Zhuofan Li is a PhD Candidate in Sociology at the University of Arizona. He studies what happens when firms play the game of open science, and more generally how organizations rearrange and capitalize human knowledge in the big data era. 

His dissertation takes an economic sociology approach to the question “what is science?” by examining corporate participation in the open science of computer vision, which has mobilized a transnational, interorganizational network of scientific knowledge, labor, and instruments to exploit massive human behavioral and biometric data.

More broadly, his research spans network analysis, sociology of science, economic sociology, organizations and work, cultural sociology, and computational and machine learning methods for network, text, and image data.
