Yiwen Zeng
Yiwen Zeng is a PhD Candidate in Sociology. Her main interests lie in the intersection of Sociology of Knowledge, Organizations and Professions. A central question motivating her research is the social organization of knowledge, with attention to the roles of both “visible” (e.g., universities, professional associations, and research institutions) and “invisible” colleges (e.g., collaboration and citation networks, schools of thoughts, and intellectual communities) in the social process of knowledge production and evolution. To unpack these processes, she combines a variety of methods including social network analysis, computational text analysis, survey experiment and archival analysis with innovative datasets. She is also actively exploring how to better integrate AI into social science research methods to enhance the validity of sociological inquiries. Prior to the PhD journal in Arizona, she obtained her MA in London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and BA in Peking University.
