Talk Title: " Author Meets Readers: Managing Medical Authority by Daniel Menchik". 

This discussion panel will feature Managing Medical Authority: How Doctors Compete for Status and Create Knowledge by Daniel Menchik, published in 2021 with Princeton University Press. The book offers a rich ethnographic account of surgeries, executive negotiations and other contexts in which medical authority is controlled, negotiated and organized. The panel will include the author Daniel Menchik as well as Corey Abramson (University of Arizona), Rene Almeling (Yale University) and David Grazian (University of Pennsylvania). Jennifer Carlson (University of Arizona) will moderate.
