Description
Literacy Connects is a growing organization that provides free literacy services to anyone who wants them. We are the top literacy org in Tucson and serve about 50,000 learners every year. Our programs are fueled by our passionate volunteers, who receive robust training and continuing professional development. By nature of our programs and mission, we are leaders in social justice and transformational learning, and actively advocate for accessible education in AZ. Literacy Connects is a volunteer-driven Tucson nonprofit serving over 46,000 children and adults annually through literacy and arts programming that create solutions to many of society’s most persistent problems. From reducing unemployment and poverty to increasing economic growth and opportunity, Literacy Connects helps us all turn the page to a brighter future!
Their wide variety of programs are unified in achieving transformational learning through joyous student-centered relationships and a strength-based approach. They know building skills is critical, and that long-term success also depends on shifting attitudes and behaviors. When people come to identify as learners, readers, writers, creatives, and empowered citizens, their resilience increases along with opportunities to help themselves and others.
As the premier literacy hub in the greater Tucson area with a commitment to access and equality, Literacy Connects connects individuals and groups from across the community to work together for long-term social impact.
