Tara is broadly interested in inequality, the intersection of culture and public policy, and thinking through the possibilities as well as limitations of public policies in interrupting processes that (re)produce inequality. She plans to engage with these issues through studying race & ethnicity, stratification, and cultural sociology. Prior to starting as a PhD student at the U of A, Tara spent almost a decade working as a community organizer and program manager in an organization combating racial injustice in public education, and then as a program and policy evaluation professional.
