Charlie Pollard

Charlie (she/her/hers) is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Sociology at the University of Arizona. Her research interests include law and society, inequality, economic sociology, and mixed methodologies. Specifically, her research uses experimental methods and interviews to examine inequality in consumer bankruptcy. Focusing on consumer bankruptcy as an ostensibly neutral legal system, her work examines whether race and gender bias exist among critical legal actors and how bias is maintained through professional norms and organizational structures.

 

Charlie is the recipient of the 2025 William K. Bunis Graduate Student Instructor Award and served as a Student Representative to the Council of the ASA Methodology Section. She earned her M.A. in Applied Sociology and B.S. in Sociology, Political Science, and Women’s and Gender Studies from Northern Arizona University.
