Lilith is a Ph.D. student and serves as both a teaching associate and research assistant. They are interested in research that resides at the nexus of medical sociology, culture, and embodiment through the employment of mixed methodologies. Their prior work primarily focused on the identity processes of individuals occupying marginalized positions, and how processes embedded in ‘divergent’ identity performance, redefinition, and erasure impacts community relationships to gatekeeping institutions. Currently, they are part of a multi-disciplinary team of researchers who are examining BIPOC opinions on the validity and trustworthiness of medical and scientific institutions through the analysis of PEW national survey data. Additionally, they are a research assistant for the Global Knowledge Lab at the University of Arizona. Their present research explores the complex ecosystem of death in America, with a particular focus on the evolving landscape and composition of deathwork.
