Myung-Ji Headshot 2024

Social Sciences, 412

Myung-Ji (She/her/hers) is a Ph.D. student in Sociology who focuses on the intersection of gender, work, and family. Specifically, she explores how societal biases and organizational structures impact the gender pay gap and work–family balance. Her academic journey has involved researching cultural influences on the gender wage gap during her time at The Ohio State University and further examining performance-based pay systems during her master’s studies at Yonsei University.
As she continues her research, she is particularly interested in how interdisciplinary approaches and the evolving role of expertise in workplaces can uncover latent inequalities, such as those influenced by automation or professional authority structures. These insights will allow her to address gender disparities within evolving organizational contexts.

Outside of academia, she enjoys badminton, swimming, and running, and has recently taken up crocheting, starting with small projects like tea coasters.
